NATHAN L MARSHALL

I wanted to take a tour of all the greatest things in the world, to look over everything beautiful from a hilltop, to know the best of what it means to be a part of history, a part of human's majesty. The path was wide and wandering, all switchbacks. Accidentally, I walked straight, went on the grass-- I was lost in thought. The group laughed, called me stupid. The distance between us grew larger, laughter quieter, an echo trailing off. Next thing I knew I was at the top, looking out across the various hilltops and their elaborate constructions. I was greeted by the one who built it all, the one responsible for maintaining all its beauty. He took me under his wing. Nathan L Marshall holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Murray State University and a Master of Fine Arts from Southern Illinois University Carbondale. Nathan’s passion for painting, philosophy, economics, and history can be seen his unique and eclectic mix of visual art, writing and janitorial duties.

W. Post, NY., and The Ann Metzger Memorial at STLAG, juried by Marla Prather, curator of Modern and Contemporary Art at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York. His poem "Hard Hat" appears in the Fall 2017 issue of Big Muddy: A Journal of the Mississippi River Valley.
